Warby Parker: I have chosen

What is it like to be home?

We have been working toward a goal for over two years now. The goal: adopt a little boy from Ethiopia and grow our family through the gift of adoption. The goal is now accomplished. Our family is bigger and more delightful than ever. Our son fits so perfectly into our little slice of chaos.

We are now navigating the waters of attachment. Helping him to understand we are FOREVER. There will never be a moment where his needs will not be met. We are Mommy, Daddy, Sissy and Brother. And He is Son, brother, baby boo. For Always.

Adoption is so good. It feels so complete. And it is. Our paths were woven together by the hands of God. He chose to call us to expand our family in this way and he connected us with a little boy in Ethiopia. My son.

What’s it like to be home? Perfect. Crazy. And Perfect Again.

I can’t wait to recap the week in Ethiopia with my little man. It was full of so many emotions and sleepless nights. I even have a little coffee giveaway coming up. Just for fun. So stick around and read about life post-adoption.

We are Cleared: Photo recap First Trip

We are now cleared. The wait is over. The bags are packed and we will board a plane tomorrow to bring our son home forever. To celebrate, here are a few pictures from our first trip to meet Liam. January 2012.

Meeting Liam for the VERY FIRST time

This is one of the cutest faces ever. He is going to fit right in with his brother and sister.

On January 23, 2012 we passed court and Alula Liam Ho became our son!

We hurried back after court to take our first family photo, minus brother and sister.

I also did some shopping. (=

Calvin helped unload groceries at the orphanage.

We drank the world's best coffee. Note, there is a starbucks cup in this pic. We were already home here, and no, Starbucks is not the World's best, Timoca is!

Charlotte was ready for our homecoming!

-Erin and Anthony were there waiting with the kids in their Africa gear!

I wrote this a few weeks after we got home. Indeed the Joy is coming. He is coming home!!!!

Okay, remember the thing I posted yesterday about 3 weeks?

Just Kidding about that! We are leaving this weekend to bring Liam HOME!!!! Meet us at the airport okay? Stay tuned, I’m sure I will be posting lots of fun updates!

God has overwhelmed us with his goodness today.

Getting Closer

Getting Closer. That describes our situation very well at the moment. We are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! Now, we aren’t sure how far away that light is… but it looks like it’s about 3 weeks away. That is our best, educated guess. In fact, I have finally decided to prepare for him. This week I washed bottles, put bedding in the crib and folded and washed all of his little clothes. This week I am going to pack for Ethiopia. And we are going to keep praying that the timeline holds true, or surprises us with an earlier date. Right now, the reality, the wonderful reality is starting to set in. God will bring this to completion.

A Baby Shower!

Yesterday was such a fun day. The ladies I work with at Long Hollow as well as several staff wives threw me a gorgeous baby shower to celebrate Liam’s soon-to-be homecoming. We were blessed with tons of bottles, diapers, formula, cute outfits and neat baby gadgets. We are set! Now let’s get that little guy home right?? Here are a few pictures that my friend Shannon captured on the ol’ iphone!

Warby Parker: I have chosen

Well, no surprise. The choice was fairly easy, #3 for me! I will say I really liked #4 as well but the versatility and comfort of #3 won me over.
