Mother’s Day

Today I celebrated my third Mother’s Day as a mommy to Elliott and Charlotte.  We had a low key celebration consisting of attending church together, Charlotte’s baby dedication and a sushi lunch followed by a family snuggle fest/afternoon nap.  It was a perfect day, and I couldn’t help but think about my little one who I have yet to meet.  I’m so anxious to see his picture; to hold him for the first time and tell him he is ours forever.  What a day that will be.

I also thought of another very important person, a woman who, though we may never meet, will change my life forever.  The birth mother of our little boy.  We do not yet know the situation that will bring our son to us.  He may have been abandoned, his parents may have died or are dying from AIDs or another disease… there are many tragic scenarios that will bring our paths together.  However, his mother gave him life and that gives her a place of honor in my heart.  Adoption is a story of tragedy, adoption is a story of beauty.  I have her to thank for the miracle we will fold into our family.

Happy Mother’s Day
